Day Trip

Santa Marta – San Martin Village – Santa Marta

7:00 a.m. We start our experience to Gotsezhy Wiwa Community in a 4×4 vehicle, heading to San Martin village.

Approximately 9:00 a.m. Arrival at the Wiwa village “Gotsezhy,” where you’ll have a cultural exchange experience with the community (accompanied by an indigenous guide). You’ll also get to enjoy an exhibition of their culture’s own crafts.

12:00 p.m. Eco-walk for about 5 minutes to reach a sacred place, where you’ll have a spiritual encounter with the indigenous Mamo, the tribe’s highest authority, allowing for an exchange of knowledge.

12:30 p.m. Enjoy a typical regional lunch prepared by Wiwa indigenous hands. 1:30 p.m. We start a 20-minute hike to a natural pool known as “El Encanto,” a place attributed with purifying properties by the ancestors. Here, you can take a refreshing swim.

3:00 p.m. We begin our return to the city of Santa Marta, concluding our experience in Gotsezhy Wiwa Community.

The Gotsezhy Wiwa Community, which means “Renacer” in Spanish, is an indigenous Wiwa refuge nestled in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. This excursion includes a trek to the refuge, where you can enjoy the best-preserved landscapes, explore rivers, and completely disconnect from the outside world. You will gain a deeper understanding of their worldview, beliefs, and the importance of ethnic and cultural diversity through various activities. The indigenous refuge also provides easy access to the majestic natural pool of the Matuna waterfall (El Encanto), where you can take a refreshing swim with just a 15-minute walk.
